Gridjit Updates: Minor Security Enhancements

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

I rolled some changes to Gridjit today that should further enhance Gridjit’s security. This is a routine enhancement and shouldn’t have any effect on the UI.

If you notice any weirdness, please email support@gridjit.com. Otherwise, enjoy!

New (small) Gridjit Feature Enhancement: Login Verification

Friday, August 1st, 2008

One source of many issues since Gridjit went into Alpha has been around incorrect username / password / remote key combinations when adding Twitter and FriendFeed services.

Today I released a simple feature (present in pretty much all clients) that attempts an authentication check with FriendFeed and Twitter before accepting the credentials. This is one of those things that should have always been in there and am finally getting to it now.

Hopefully this will make using Gridjit easier!

New Gridjit Features: Account Settings

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

It’s been awhile since I’ve released any new UI features as I’ve been spending most of my time working on Gridjit’s backend technology. However, due to many requests, I’ve released some new UI features that should make managing your account easier.

To access the account settings screen, click on the new “Settings” link next to your name in the upper right-hand corner:

Settings

You’ll see a screen that will let you change your username, password, email address, privacy settings and, if desired, will allow you to delete your account.

Enjoy!

Gridjit Status Update

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

I am happy to announce that the necessary changes to prevent problems like yesterday’s are complete.

I’ve decided to hold off on rolling them to the production server tonight because I want to be there for the first few hours (I’m on Japan time and it’s getting late here). So, the new changes will go out tomorrow.

Thanks again to everyone for their patience as I take these extra precautions.

Gridjit login made easier for Alpha users

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

One of the biggest requests I’ve had over the last few days was a way to make it easier to log back in after logging out. Until just now, the login functionality was hidden behind the invitation screen so you had to re-enter your invite in order to login. This was annoying to all of us (include me) so I’ve fixed it.

You can now log in from a link on the front page. Sorry for the initial headaches! :-)

More Gridjit invites coming!

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Thank you to everyone who has signed up for the Gridjit alpha over the last few days. Given the little time I have had to put into marketing it, the response has been very strong. I’ll keep getting invites out as soon as possible. Thanks to everyone for their patience!

An early preview of Gridjit: Invite round #1

Friday, June 20th, 2008

The new Gridjit has been deployed to the live server and a small number of people have been given invites to start playing around. I’m still working to get things stabilized. Once things are a little more stable, I’ll start adding more people to the alpha release.

It’s a big relief to finally have the new code deployed. A huge number of changes have gone into the new code base and it’s a much more robust platform. The FriendFeed support is the most noticable and the overall design has been greatly refactored, hopefully making it more enjoyable and easier to use.

All in all, the new development took about two months because of a lot of travel that I did for business. If I had to guess how much actual time went in so far, I’d estimate at about a month.

If you haven’t signed up for an invite yet and you want to get in early, you can sign up at Gridjit.com.

Stay tuned for more news!
